It's LiveJournal Monday 11/25 Miss Kitty Fantastico

Postby BBOvenGuy » Mon Nov 25, 2002 10:07 am

Good morning! :)

Much to my surprise, there doesn't appear to be a daily thread, so I'll start one.

After much patient persuasion by one of my friends, I've gone and signed up for LiveJournal, so now I can post comments of a general rambling nature for the cyberworld to see in one place on a regular basis. I'm also trying out a new name, since BBOvenGuy is more representative of my past. I haven't built an oven in more than a year now. I'm calling myself ShutterBob, which you may see me also do here eventually if I continue to like the name.

Anyway, my LiveJournal can be found here:

www.livejournal.com/users/shutterbob

Is anyone else signed up? What are your usernames? And what do you think Willow and Tara would write about if they had LiveJournals of their own?

Have a great day, everybody! :bounce

Heh. I don't have a LJ mostly because I bore the pants off of... well, myself. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Pantlessness can be lovely. I'm sure the whores and whorelettes will all agree. But the boringness? Not so much.

I do regularly read the LJs of two friends of mine, though. And my uncle just started a techie-jargon-filled weblog on his java consulting website, which is fun to check in on as well. Maybe one of these days I'll join that particular wagon o' band, but for the time being, yeah, I bore me.

Except when I do this. :jho

I admit I have an LJ here, but it's pretty boring - I save all the real juicy stuff (yeah, right) for my private journal. ;)

I think Tara's LJ would be a deeply personal evaluation of her mother's teachings. Willow would have become a developer and created many useful and hilarious tools for other users to enjoy.

No Julia, I'd imagine your pentlessness wouldn't be such a bad thing at all... Not that I do. Imagine. Not at all. Ahem.

There's this thing rather like LiveJournal I think, called Open Diary. Sounds basically the same, eh? Well, I've a diary there, but it's mostly so I can replay to others' entries. My own would be, I fear, pretty uninteresting.

Never could manage to keep a diary, even when I wanted to. :) Not the presistent type. I was like 8 when I decided I needed a diary, and I got myself a pink one (not kidding!) with a heart-shaped little lock on it... and that lasted about two weeks. Mostly wrote about my cat's little fluffy newborns. :)

For a while, I kept a LJ in addition to my paper journal. About 3 months after I signed up I made it friends only (which is kind of silly because most of the people who had me listed listed as a "friend" were complete strangers). I stopped updating my LJ about 2 months ago. Got tired of typing the stuff from my paper journal.

Okay, I'll admit that I have one. :) I mostly post poetry and the occasional survey (I'm addicted to those darn things!). I'm at Diaryland and my address is ninjitsugrrl.diaryland.com.

I have a uJournal, which is basically the same as a LiveJournal. It consists of my daily rants about teenage life and such. To most people it probably doesn't make much sense, since I write about my friends and personal situations, but I am known for throwing in the not-so-occasional complaint about the world in general.

My journal in 2 (if you read my journal, you'd see that everything comes in twos...weird)words? Teenage angst. I think the link's in my profile somewhere.

i only knew such things existed until a month ago. i was at a friend's birthday party and this chick was talking about hers, for actually a verrrrrry long time. and i in fact, only saw one of these things and had a clue what they really are as of yesterday, when i clicked a link in someone's profile and found myself staring at one. interesting things they are.....i dont really know what i think. i know i'd never do it, but i dont know what i think. it's one of those things that makes me inclined to feel a sweeping generalization coming on, and then i have to repress that urge. it's weird....i donno yet.
a fascinating way to spy on someone's thoughts about you without them knowing youre doing it. that's all i know so far.

peace.

I have a livejournal...but it hasnt been updated in almost a year...but if anyones interested my username is EchoOfInsanity

I also have a DeadJournal ((which is just SO much niftier)) but that, alas, also hasnt been updated in a couple of months... my username there is PaleMoonlitBaby

If Willow/Tara kept livejournals? I think they would write cute things about each other for one another to read....or if they had a little spat theyd write little appologies and tell each other how much they love the other. *big cheesy gryn*

Well I've noticed that some people who keep (public) online journals don't do it for themselves, they do it for others. I have a couple of friends that make entries for the sole purpose of creating drama in their lives. I also have friends that keep online journals, but censor alot of what they really think. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a journal, ya know?

Online journals are really neat for keeping in touch with friends who move away though. They can see what you're up to and vice versa.

well, the person writing about me i only just met, for maybe a total of ten minutes. so she definitely doesnt know i happened upon her aim profile with a link to her livejournal, which i didnt know was a link to that when i clicked it. and doesnt know that i read and noticed that bit about me......but anyway, dont need to go into my dating wiggins of the week.....
those things satisfy that very human need to put something out there that you want people to know but dont want to have told them specifically so its just there and they can stumble upon it themselves, but without the whole scary part of actually going and face to face ACTUALLY saying something to somebody........i think it's incredibly human.
but not my style....
peace.

The thing with me is that for the past several years I've been something of an electronic mentor-type (think Giles but without the aversion to computers ;) ) to a number of young people who are now leading busy college-student lives. They've directed me to their LiveJournals so I can keep up with what's going on with them, and asked me to do the same so they can keep up with me.

Plus there's the whole thing about me being a writer. I always need practice writing things and putting them out in public.

I've been a journal-phobe since fifth grade. They made us - MADE us - write in one daily. If we didn't have anything to share, we'd have to keep writing something, even if it was the same thing over and over again.

Hey, if I was gonna write lines, I figured I should be punished for a reason. I have much resentment over that, and have never kept any sort of journalling system since. Haven't even used a daybook for more than a couple months before tossing it - too damn structured.

I do now use a blank notebook - no structure except ruled lines - for keeping appointments, plans and reminders. That's all I'll ever want or need. :miff

Well, there's the deep psychological root of my lack of openess over my feelings. Nicely summarized, huh? :p

I have one! I've had it since May, its a paid account. (One of my friends just suprised me last week by making it a paid account, which has all kinds of perks). I love my livejournal, though my life isnt that interesting. Sometimes my lj is like therapy when I just need to talk. And then I get surprised by a comment that says "hey, me too". Its great. this is the link. Or, um, I think the link is in my sig. Yep, pretty sure it is, I havent looked in awhile.

I am not much of a journal writer. Every once in a while I will get the urge to start one, except for some stupid reason I feel like I have to make up for all the time that I wasn't writing, so I'll start out with "Here's what's been happening for the past (insert my age) years of my life", and of course that's WAY too much writing for my attention span, and after a day or so I give up. Plus I just hate writing in general, so it would be more like a chore. But I really admire people who can actually keep journals!

The only LJs I read are of people in the vidding community. I'm on a couple mailing lists that deal with vidding; one of them is specifically about Buffy vids and the other is a general fandom vidding list. So every once in a while I will check the LJs of the people who post to the list, because they often have interesting things to say about the vidding process, or a particular vid to recommend. None of my real-life friends are into it, though, as far as I know.

Journals. I would have gone insane long ago with one. I actually currently have three journals. I have a journal at home, one I keep in my bookbag for school and when I travel, and my FOD (Free Open Diary). I"m ao obsessed I'm actually writing in it right now.

I used to read my sister's LJ and all of her friend's LJs (she's in college so I wanted to check in on her). But recently I read a friend's FOD and saw how easy they were to make. So since July 24th, i have been the proud owner of my own FOD. I really love it. But since my friends read it I can't write in it very freely. Which really stinks because a lot of times I really want to talk about a girl that I have a crush on, or what it's like to be a questioning youth.

So if anyone wants to read about my boring life in cowtown come on over. Hey, the occasional teen angst poem. Does it get any better?

I started a blog earlier this year. I forget about it all the time, so my entries are few and far between. I started it, 'cos I missed my old journal - I had a diary program on my old laptop, which I periodically used. Then my hard drive died and I lost it all. Which was kinda sad, as it had entries spanning from my first year at Uni, to my last year there....

my blog is here if anyone cares. You may notice I'm partial to doing quizzes.
