I'm with the phallic symbol thing. I don't recall Faith beating around the 'bush' about anything. So, I don't think she could have been more blunt and to the point with this comment.

Now, what does that saying mean to anyone? "Beating around the bush"? "Who's" beating "what" around "what" bush? :confused

I googled :)

Larry Trask from Sussex University:
[quote:07fa9f8b18]Quote:
This phrase appears to derive from shooting. A popular book on my shelf explains that it derives from the practice of using beaters to make a disturbance in the vicinity of the bushes where game birds were concealed, thus driving them into the air to be shot.
[/quote:07fa9f8b18]
Which is a bit odd really. 'Beating around the bush' is supposed to be a bad, time-wasting thing, but unless you're pro-birdlife, it's good & necessary in it's original context.

Ahh...the quirkiness of the English language ;)

Would someone point me to the Season 7 discussion sign-up thread? I can't seem to find it anymore, and I'd like to see the Kitten's reactions.

Also, when I eventually sign up, will I be able to "magically" see the Season 7 discussion thread? I have never laid my baby blues on that thread, and I've been lurking since May.

SlayerSydney - Thank you for responding so quickly! I've emailed Xita for her thoughts, since I haven't posted on the Board for a full month yet.

Maybe the mods should do this, but, I'm bored. You need to go: Here

And let Xita know you want to join.

feena191:
You are so funny!! Thanks! I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. Hee hee. It was certainly informative. I shall pass on all info. :p

edited twice cuz I'm goof who can't spell sometimes. And to add: Mods I hope that's ok if I helped guide TemperedCynic.

SlayerSydney, of course it is! That's what this thread is for, for all of us to help each other. :)

From the first post in this thread:

3. Anyone who thinks they have a good, helpful answer to a question can answer. Feel free to link to other existing threads or other sites if you think the information being sought is laid out well elsewhere. The mods may encourage some questions to break out into their own threads, this is a good thing.

Hi, okay, so I posted about the "
[quote:2f0f232af3]Quote:

"problems with this webpage might prevent it from being displayed properly or from functioning properly. In the future, you can display this message by double-clicking on the the warning icon on the status bar" with an option of "always display this message when a page contains errors"
[/quote:2f0f232af3]messege popping up when I logged out of the Kitten, Witches and the Bad Wardrobe board. It seems like it is because of my dad-he's been "adjusting" the IE settings, and has every tiny thing causing a warning/malfunction/illegal pop-up-and not anything major to do with the board, as far as I can tell.

Hey beautiful Kitties,

This is more a request for an opinion than a question with a definite answer, though there may be one. In any case I am sure you can help me out. In "Family", I seem to remember Donny asks Tara for a hug and refers to himself as her brother, and Willow says: "Brother?" in a sort of surprised tone of voice.

Now I took that to mean that she didn't know Tara actually had a brother, that Tara hadn't told her about him (on account of him being so awful). However might it have been that it was just that she was surprised to see him and maybe excited that she was meeting some of Tara's relatives? I didn't take from Willow's tone that it was a bad thing that Donny was there i.e. that Tara had told Willow what Donny was like...

I am over-analysing I know, but it's this or studying! :p

I don't know, I always took it as Willow never knew about her brother. I think that Willow knew that Tara was hiding stuff as evidenced in restless but I think she knew it had to be for a good reason.

Have some of the font colour settings been changed on the board, or have I done something odd to my PC?

Only that? Wow!
I would have thought it were several things that have changed colors. It's amazing how one little color change can make the entire board look different.:)

Agreed - There have been two colour changes tody, some of the threads (I don't always click on the thread topic, I usually just click on the last post) are now white. I'm so glad others have noticed this - I thought my computer was f*cking up (again). Would be nice if they warned us of this. So long as it's not my graphics card, I'm happy. Hey, it does give the board a brighter look though.

I'm wondering if the color change is permanent? It's just personally I'm finding the color kinda blinding... not saying I can't eventually adjust to the change :) , but at the moment it's having this effect.

Yeah sorry folks , been changing a couple of things on the board. You can blame the font color on another moderator who posted above ;)

Next time I start tweaking I'll give you the heads up so that you don't think you are going crazy. I should be done now :)

Gonna give the colors a couple of days, well one color really.

hi xtaraseyesx

you need to go to edit profile in the Control Centre, & put the address of the picture you want to use in the My Photo box.

Do you have a picture to use?
