SUMMARY: This fic takes place mostly on a cruise ship..Willow and Tara have both been sent on vacations by their friends.



SUNRISE



PART 8



When Tara got back to her room, she called the only person she could. Her friend, Tannon.



“Hello?” A woman’s voice answered the phone after two rings.



“Kim? It’s Tara. Can I talk to Tannon, please?” Tara asked the detective’s wife.



“Tara, hi. Of course you can talk to Frank, just let me call him,” the woman replied.



“Hello? Tara? How’s your vacation going?” Tannon asked.



Tara breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the detective’s voice. He was the one thing that she could hold to. “Oh, Tannon. I’m so glad I can talk to you. I’m falling in love.” She came right out with it.



She could almost hear Tannon smile on the other side of the phone. “What’s her name?” He asked softly.



Tara’s mouth dropped. He knows I’m…gay? No. I must have heard him wrong. Tara had never hidden her sexuality, but she had never flaunted it, either. “What?”



“I said, what’s her name?” Tannon repeated.



“How did—how did you…?” Tara asked, baffled.



Tannon laughed kindly. “How did I know it would be a girl? It’s obvious to anyone who knows you, sweetie.”



“Obvious?”



“If they know you like I do, then yes, obvious. Now who’s the lucky girl?” Tannon prodded Tara to continue.



Tara was flustered, she had expected that Tannon would disapprove, she couldn’t believe that he already knew. “Well, her name is Willow, and she’s a teacher in Sunnydale.”



“Hmm…a teacher. That’s good, I like her name, it’s pretty.”



“It fits her,” Tara said with a smile, just thinking of the redhead.



Tannon laughed again. “Oh, you are SO in love. I can actually hear you grinning like an idiot.”



Tara smiled even wider, she knew he was right. “But, I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid to tell her. She’s straight, at least, she used to have a boyfriend. I don’t want to lose her, Tannon. I don’t know what it will do to me if she tells me she doesn’t like me.”



“Tara, listen to me. How will you know how she feels unless you ask her? You never know, but you have to trust your heart. You need to walk your own path. But know that no matter what, I will always be here for you, because I love you.” Tannon’s voice was strong and clear.



Tara felt her eyes tearing slowly. She wiped away the teardrops and whispered, “Thank you, Tannon. I have to go now, there’s something I need to do.” Her stomach flipped.



“I know there is. Go get her! I love you, sweetie. I’ll be here if you need to talk,” Tannon said to her.



“I love you, too. Thank you, and give my love to Kim and the kids.” With that, she hung up.



On the other side of the line, Tannon placed the phone on the receiver. Kim walked into the kitchen.



“What did Tara need?” She asked her husband.



Tannon smiled at his wife broadly, and pulled her into a close embrace. “Our little Tara is in love.”
